D’incise es la mente tras el sello insubordinations, pero además de esto, es un prolífico compositor que se mueve por una amplia variedad de géneros. En este caso quisiera recomendar una de sus obras más arriesgadas.  Sauf Morphée tiene mucho de música electroacústica, compuesta como debe ser, con inspiración y calidad. Apartada de tantos academicismos que la han convertido en muchos casos, en un tipo de música sin dirección alguna y completamente aburrida.

“D’Incise is member of the Audioactivity collective from Geneva. In 2002 he started producing different kinds of electronic music, from dub to electronica, dangerously sliding to the more experimental ways of electroacoustic. His world is made with sound fractures, nevralgic crepitations, melancolic atmospheres and a non-dissimulated fascination for rust and faded rhythms.
In live, he works mostly in improvisation, collaborating with a few electronic or acoustic musicians (Cyril Bondi, Christian Graf, Nicolas Sordet, Johanne Bourquenez, Eric Pailhe, Aymeric de Tapol, Fabien Duscomb, Larkian, Gavin Prior, Tzii, Krzysztof Gavlas, Crashbonsai, Dragos Tara, Guillaume Lantonnet, Christophe Berthet, Gael riondel, Sylvain Darifourc, Marc Perenoud, dj Bouto, Laurent Berger).
His music is unstable, close to electro acoustic, working with textures, breaks, tensions and spectral atmospheres. He is looking for a type of reactive playing technic, distanced from the constraints of the machine. Through his live sampling, he tries to undo the distinction between the acoustic instruments and the computer, blurring your perception in order to force the audience to detach itself from its visual landmarks in order to listen more actively and independently.
From his meeting with the saxophonist Gaël Riondel and the drummer Cyril Bondi is born “Diatribes”, a trio with strong freejazz influences. In an another style, d’incise present a solo live act, closer of electronica, where he operate fluctuations suites of rythmic pulsions, simple melodies and noise waves for a destroyed dancefloor.
He also coordinate the insubordinations netlabel, dedicate to improvised music, and collectivly coordinate the audioactiviste netlabel.”

Con el cierre de muchos sellos que solían fichar IDM y abstract hip-hop, muchos de los artistas que nos movemos en estos mundillos nos hemos visto obligados a recurrir a otras formas de distribución, ya que sólo unos pocos afortunados aún conservan su contrato de grabación. Pues para Apes on tapes esta situación es algo injusta, porque estoy seguro de que si su disco estuviera a la venta, muchos seríamos los que lo compraríamos. Ojalá pudiera retribuirles de alguna forma tan maravillosa publicación, pero me es imposible, asi que lo único que me queda por decirles es GRACIAS.

Quién, despues de haber escuchado appelsap no quedó prendado del sonido de MD. Aquel que piense lo contrario que tire la primera piedra. IDM del mejor por parte del finés Jaakko Manninen, sin compromisos de ningún tipo. Creador de los servidores scene.org, por lo cual debería ganarse un lugar en el hall de la fama del mundo de los sellos en línea, MD entrega un cortísimo disco para monotonik, pero que muestra claramente el sonido que sus fans tanto disfrutamos.

“His last release on Monotonik was wayback when we were putting out .MODs, so it’s a delight to finally put out another tune from Helsinki native, Jaakko Manninen, aka md, and as our 50th Monotonik release, too.

Now residing in London, his “Appelsap” mp3-release was put out on CD by Merck Records recently, including some great remixes from Thug, Ilkae, Crankshaft (Yolk!), and even Warp-signed Brothomstates, and his “Between Gaps” opus, formerly due out as the first release on the scrapped Monotonik ‘real-life’ record label, is now due in the near future from Merck (and is well worth the wait!)

In any case, “Sweaty Palms” is a great example of the new and way-ahead md style, dense as feck and full of foreboding bassrumble and cut-to-heck drums and Finnish voices. It grooves, but in an unholy way, and we like this, like it a lot.”

Como lo he prometido, la segunda reseña de este mes hace parte también del mismo sello belga Sundays in spring, quienes no han sido muy consistentes con su labor netlabel, ya que han tenido tiempos muertos de hasta un año. Pero esto se les perdona porque suelen publicar música verdaderamente interesante.
Para hoy el invitado es Feuerbach, un folk indie muy interesante, plagado de amor, sentimiento y ternura. Tal vez no sea el tipo de música más obvio para encontrar en un netlabel y por eso pienso que merece ser reseñado en este blog. Un disco completamente acústico, sin complejos, simple y concreto, alejado de tanto mundo electrónico al que ya los tenía habituados.

“Feuerbach come both from Genk, Belgium. This is their first release after a song on a Rarefish compilation – ‘Tree’ – we fell in love with. But sadly after this beginning the band went on hiatus. That made us so sad that we started to ask them constantly for more songs. During last spring, they finally accepted to come back to life and to work on a few songs for us. It gave them energy, fervor and desire to let the band grow; Feuerbach is now more alive than ever!
These are pure indie pop folk melodies that will stick in your mind for long hours.

About the EP:
This EP is the result of two people messing around with recording gear, and instruments that happened to be available at the time. These songs were written while recording, so we didn’t knew with what we would end up with. Luckily the result was a (more or less) coherent batch of songs. At first we wanted to experiment with electronics, but combining that with acoustic instruments and singing was too complicated for our lazy minds. (Although the last song is a result of those tries.) So we switched to the “all-acoustic” mode. Using acoustic and slide guitars, a banjo, playing on the drums with brushes, and soft singing… all of that eventually resulted in some kind of folk/pop. Later on, these songs were completed with the help of some others, so thanks to:
Thomas, playing bass-guitar and a slide solo on track 1
Nils, playing the bass on tracks 2, 3 and 4
Astrid, singing on track 3

About Feuerbach:
There isn’t much to say, yet. Feuerbach, the recording project, consists of Felix and Rolf. For the past few months we’ve been deciding every week we would start rehearsing, to see if we could perform live with these songs. Each week there are other things that distract us. But eventually we’ll succeed in our goal: the first band repetition. Feuerbach, the live-band to be, will consist of (you saw this coming) Felix and Rolf. But in their harsh task of bringing their music to the masses they will be joined by Nils and David.”

Tengo que confesar que este comienzo de mes ha sido un poco lento en varios aspectos, ando un poco ocupado en afianzar proyectos personales y he descuidado un poco todos mis sitios, pero como dicen ahi, es mejor tarde que nunca. Para este mes creo que comenzaré reseñando un par de discos del mismo sello, cosa un poco inusual en esta bitácora. Música triste e íntima, de esa que muchos dicen hacer pero que pocos logran de una forma tan certera. Un disco que evoca sensaciones y recuerdos que ya se creían distantes.

“Sepia Hours is the solo project of Sébastien Biset, a young Belgian musician. This is his first release.

Below you’ll find his bio:
I had to centre all my ideas and desires into 7 tracks without falling back on the too brazen sound impulses that do not contribute to a coherent whole. Having privileged the musical aspect with the detriment of any experimentation, it appears however that research on the voice had come to a dispersion of the words in certain pieces. Words become echoes, they appear and disappear again, the voice always somewhere between singing and whisper mixed with the guitar airs and electronic lines. As the title evokes, this session of recording went through many steps (personally as well as musically), various climates (what justifies a progression of the atmospheres on this Ep). Sepia hours is a base for possible deepening and future musical wandering… Between guitar, objects (acoustic) of kinds and computer, between attempts, unavoidable errors, emotion (I do hope so..) and passion..”

En esta ocasión quisiera tomarme cierta libertad que creo tener, para publicar una pequeña autopromoción si así se le quiere llamar. Pero igual es mi blog y se trata de un set que me gustó mucho como quedó, además de que fue hecho en vivo el día que SERIES mi sello, cumplió 4 años de intenso trabajo. Asi que uds amigos lectores que no han escudriñado en la pagina que alberga este pequeño y humilde blog, es hora de que lo vayan haciendo mientras escuchan este mix.

Hace no mucho tiempo, la noticia de la desparición de kikapu me cogió un poco por sorpresa, ya que se trataba de uno de los netlabels más representativos y con 200 producciones online. De una forma un poco misteriosa, uno de los más grandes sellos online cerraba sus puertas. Ahora parece que la maldición le llegó a 1bit wonder, luego de un poco más de 3 años lograron posicionarse de una forma importante en la escena y ahora con el disco numero 32 a cargo de Latex distortion y Gary West dicen definitivamente adiós. No se que virus tan raro estará dando pero sellos como kikapu, textone e instabil han desaparecido, y pues si en los sellos offline esto pasa, por qué no habría de suceder en el mundo netlabel. Es lógico que debe pasar, que cuando uno cumple un ciclo debe seguir con otros proyectos, pero también es un poco doloroso saber que no veremos más discos de estos sellos.

A continuación les dejo un enlace con un pequeño homenaje que thinner hace a 1 bit wonder con respecto a su triste pero entendible decisión.

Parece que el invierno por fin está cediendo aquí, pero lo malo es que en mi ciudad los términos medios como que no existen, entonces cambiarlo por calor extremo tampoco es que sea muy buena idea. Lo otro malo es que la mayoría de música que escuchamos en este blog no esta hecha para días de playa. Por eso, asi el invierno se marche, la música más íntima y los paisajes sonoros seguirán sonando aquí. Lo sentimos amigo fanático de los clubes de Ibiza y del house hedonista, porque te va un golpe más, se llama Emvelope nine.

Hoy amanecí algo melancólico y pues dije, qué mejor que sonar Iambic². Under these stars we’ll sleep again es una obra tranquila de un poder enorme. Considerado por muchos como el mejor disco del 2007, el disco de Iambic² funciona como la perfecta banda sonora de un dia soleado, de un día lluvioso o como será el caso del día de hoy, un poco de los dos con un hermoso arco iris al final. Bellas melodias acompañadas de voces impecables.

Este sábado 19 de abril mezclaré algunas tonadas en un evento que haremos de SERIES media en un reconocido bar de mi ciudad y pues debido a esto, hace unas horas, me encontraba buscando música en mi disco duro para actualizar un poco el set ya que se está poniendo viejo.
Por eso, buscando y buscando me encontré con un disco de este artista en S!te llamado bass life y pensé: pero si yo recuerdo haber escuchado un ep de este talentoso señor en el catálogo de tropic con un track que siempre he querido mezclar. Pues hombre, tanto busqué que lo encontré (creo que tengo que ordenar mas mis discos de netlabels). El track se llama “larre” y es genial.
Mendia maneja un rítmico 4/4, que nos recuerda mucho ese sonido maurizio, de pong delays, con un poco de minimal y pads filtrados. Bajos profundos y fuertes que paulatinamente van calentando el clima en la pista de baile. Un sonido limpio, elegante y bastante depurado.
